Curfew imposed on Chereponi and Saboba

The imposition of the curfew follows the outbreak of violence between the Konkombas and Chokosis over a patch of land, which has led to the death of three people.

A statement signed by Ambose Dery said: “The government continues to urge chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, the youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.”

Additionally, the minister has announced a “total ban on all persons in the aforementioned communities and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons.”

He added: “Any persons found with any arms will be arrested and prosecuted”.
