Abdellatif Jouahri, Moroccan central bank governor has been named as the best banker of the year by The Banker, a monthly international financial affairs publication by The Financial Times.
Jouahri was selected for his economic trajectory in Morocco and how his various monetary policies helped to shape the country’s economic growth.
He was also named as the central bank governor of the year in 2017.
According to The Banker, the Central Banker of the Year 2019 awards celebrate the officials that have best managed to stimulate growth and stabilise their economy.
Listing Jouahri’s achievements in Morocco, the Banker says “the country’s banking sector has been strengthened, largely as a result of work by the central bank and its governor.

Other achievements of Abdellatif Jouahri include taming of inflation rate at an averaged of 1.5% and policy rates in Morocco maintained at 2.25% since March 2016.
In Europe, Croatian central banker, Boris Vujcic emerged as Banker of the year, Mexican bank chief, Alejandro Diaz de Leon emerged in America, while Malaysian central bank governor, Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus emerged in Asia-Pacific.
In the Middle East, Kuwait central bank governor, Mohammad Al-Hashel emerged best in 2019.

Egyptian minister, Mohamed Maait was named as Africa’s finance minister of the year for his economic reform to win plaudits around the world. Maait beat Nigeria’s finance minister, Zainab Ahmed and others across Africa to emerged best.
