A Nigerian who thought an Azman Air flight at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos was enroute to Ghana jumped on top of the plane moments before the plane was scheduled to take-off on Friday morning.
The action caused passengers and some airport staff to panic as the man, whose name is yet to be made public, was spotted on the aircraft’s win.
The man was captured in a viral video depositing a bag he was holding inside one of the aircraft’s engines.
According to online portal The Nation, “the action caused panic and frenzy as some of the passengers immediately demanded the pilot and cabin crew to open the aircraft doors for them to disembark due to safety concerns.”
Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who confirmed the development said the man had been arrested.
She said Airport Security have taken him to their security unit for further interrogation.
At press time, the suspect was yet to disclose how he was able to gain access to the restricted area.
Azman Air, the flight in question was bound for Port Harcourt when the incident happened.
Azman Air is a domestic Nigerian airline and does not fly to Ghana.
