Lionel Messi reaches staggering career milestone as Barcelona breeze past Eibar

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi this evening became the first-ever player to reach a pair of frankly-remarkable goalscoring milestones, after finding the net versus Eibar.
Barcelona 3-0 Eibar
The Blaugrana welcomed minnows Eibar to the Camp Nou a short time ago, hoping to reestablish their healthy lead atop the La Liga table, after Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win over Levante this afternoon saw Diego Simeone’s men closed the gap on the Spanish champions to just 2 points.
And, in the end, a comfortable evening’s work saw the Catalan giants do just that, with Barca having eventually emerged with a 3-0 victory.
Luis Suarez put the hosts in front inside the opening 20 minutes, following a passage of superb link-up play between the Uruguayan and Philippe Coutinho:

Lionel Messi then doubled the Blaugrana’s lead shortly after half-time, slotting home into the bottom-right corner of the Eibar goal in typically clinical fashion:

And Suarez rounded out the game’s scoring with his brace a short time later, following some quick thinking from Blaugrana stopper Sergi Roberto:

Luis Suarez makes it 3 for Barcelona! 👏
How has he managed to sneak it in from that angle?! 😱

Messi milestone
While the result marked yet another positive one for Barcelona in their quest to retain the La Liga title, the Camp Nou outfit’s second goal stood as a hugely-significant one on a personal level for the club’s long-standing icon, Lionel Messi.
In finding the net versus Eibar, the Argentine attacker became the first player in history to notch 400 goals in La Liga, as well as the first to rack up 400 goals for one club in any of Europe’s top 5 leagues:
