People can’t believe how close Liverpool came to scoring vs Man City

As close as you can get
Social media can’t quite believe how close Liverpool came to scoring against Manchester City as goalline technology was called into action.
The Reds travelled to the Etihad in hope of taking a big leap towards claiming the Premier League title.
With a seven-point lead over Manchester City, all three points away from home would put plenty of daylight between them and arguably their biggest contenders.
The fact that Pep Guardiola’s side had not been too impressive for the past month or so added some extra spice to the affair too.
Meanwhile, Liverpool remained unbeaten going into the game and while you would have expected them to be favourites going into the clash, they were not.
Though, within the first 15 minutes, you could see why.

Brilliant game to watch as a neutral
The game started at 100mph, with Man City trying to play Liverpool at their own game.
They pressed hard and fast and really looked threatening despite not having many clearcut chances.
Fernandinho pulled the strings and they took the game to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
However, it was Liverpool who nearly took the lead in incredible circumstances.
Liverpool broke through on the counter, with some lovely link-up play between Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
The latter then played in a beautiful through ball to Sadio Mane who struck the post with his low shot.
However, the ball bounced back out and as John Stones went to clear the ball, Ederson attempted to dive on the ball.
That lead to Stones hitting it off the Brazilian’s face and the ball looping up and towards the goal.
Incredibly, Stones was able to recover and get the ball before it crossed the line.

While it looked to have crossed the line initially, replays showed just how close City were conceding.
Safe to say, no one could quite believe how close it was.

Mane is played through by Salah, his effort hits the post and then it somehow stays out.
